Target Audience: This training is intended for healthcare professionals who are involved with tuberculosis contact investigation and sputum collection in the USAPI region.

Training Objectives (partial list):
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how TB is transmitted
  • Describe how Mycobacterium tuberculosis progresses from infection to active TB disease and associated risk factors influencing likelihood of progression
  • Identify populations at high risk for infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis
  • Name and apply the essential steps and timelines in a contact investigation
  • Identify four techniques to improve communication during a TB interview
  • Name three approaches for providing culturally competent TB care
