The Curry International Tuberculosis Center (CITC) has updated its Tuberculosis Case Management and Contact Investigation Intensive (TB CMCI) by shifting from a series of live virtual trainings to a hybrid format. This includes six online self-paced modules, and one live interactive session. This online, asynchronous training for TB case managers working with persons with TB disease can be accessed, started, and revisited at any time during the course term.
Level 2 covers the following modules:
- The Role of a Case Manager
- The Fundamentals of TB Diagnosis
- Treatment of Drug-Susceptible Tuberculosis
- Case Management for Drug-Susceptible TB
- Supporting Patients to Complete Treatment
- Determining Treatment Completion for Drug-Susceptible TB
Target Audience: TB case managers caring for persons with TB disease
Format: Hybrid – self-paced online modules + one live interactive session
Self-paced Module Dates: Available June 15 – August 21, 2026
Live Session Date: Friday, August 21, 2026 from 11:00-12:30 PM (PT)
Cost: All CITC trainings are free of charge.
Important Credit Information:
Learners may complete as much or as little of the curriculum as needed. Eligibility for Nursing Continuing Education (CE) hours or a Certificate of Participation depends on the amount of content completed.
Completion for Nursing CE Hours
This training is approved for up to 10.00 Nursing CE hours. To receive 10.00 Nursing CE hours, participants must:
- Complete all six self-paced modules, and
- Submit a post-training evaluation, and
- Attend one (1) Live Session via Zoom. (There may be two dates to accommodate varying schedules. If you’re unable to attend either session, we regret that no additional dates will be offered for this cohort.)
Completion for Certificate of Participation (no Nursing CE)
- Completion of all six self-paced modules is not required; learners may take a flexible approach and complete only the content that meets their needs.
- Live Sessions function as optional “office hours.”
- Participants who do not meet CE requirements will receive a Certificate of Participation.
These Level 2 training materials are designed for TB case managers caring for persons with TB disease. Please note that additional training materials for public health professionals (nurses and public health/disease control investigators) who are new to TB prevention and care responsibilities are provided in. Level 1: TB Basics, Contact Investigation, and Latent TB Infection. Level 1 covers the following modules:
- Tuberculosis Basics
- Tuberculosis Contact Investigation Framework and Tools
- Tuberculosis Patient Interview
- Diagnosing Latent TB Infection
- Case Management and Coordination of Latent TB Infection Treatment and Care
The Curry International Tuberculosis Center is approved as a provider of continuing education by the California State Board of Registered Nurses, Provider Number CEP 12308. This training is approved for up to 10.00 continuing education hours. Board requirements prevent us from offering CE credit to people who arrive more than 15 minutes after the start of the training, or leave the training early. Therefore, partial credit will not be awarded.
The Curry International Tuberculosis Center is designated as a Tuberculosis Center of Excellence for Training, Education, and Medical Consultation (TB COE) via a funded cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Curry International Tuberculosis Center prioritizes learners from the western region of the United States which consists of seventeen jurisdictions: Alaska, Arizona, California (including Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco), Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and the U.S. Pacific Island Territories.
