Credit: This training is approved for up to 1.00 continuing education hour (see below). Certificates will be available approximately 12 weeks after the training to participants who complete the entire training and evaluation.

Target Audience: This training is intended for physicians, nurses, and other health professionals who diagnose and treat patients with TB.

Description: This training will provide an overview of exciting diagnostic test options for TB, both new and on the horizon.

Training Objectives:

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Explain current recommendations and available tools in the United States and globally to optimize rapid diagnosis of TB and reduce disease transmission
  • Describe the progress and advances in development of novel diagnostics for pulmonary TB (molecular testing & urine LAM tests) to prepare learner with knowledge for anticipated future application
  • Describe the benefits of the upcoming transition of the Molecular Detection of Drug Resistance (MDDR) Service offered by the CDC TB Reference Laboratory towards a targeted next generation sequencing assay
