Description: Taking side effects seriously - an interactive and evidence-based webinar series will highlight various TB treatment-associated adverse effects and provide management strategies to effectively reduce barriers to treatment completion and support both patients and clinicians. Session 1 of this two-part training on drug-induced liver injury (DILI) will highlight the epidemiology of DILI, review guidelines for monitoring for DILI, and provide definitions that support accurate diagnosis.

Target Audience: This training is intended for physicians, nurses, and other licensed medical and public health professionals who provide care to patients in treatment for LTBI and active TB. 

Credit: This training is approved for up to 1.25 continuing education hours (see below). Certificates will be available within 8-10 weeks. 

Cost: There is no fee for this training.

Objectives:

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

• Describe the epidemiology of DILI including frequency, timing, and risk factors for DILI and severe DILI.
• Summarize monitoring strategies to support earlier identification and decrease the risk of severe DILI in patients undergoing TB treatment.
• Identify the clinical manifestations of DILI to facilitate accurate diagnosis and clinical decision making.

Training Format: Virtual training includes lectures and Q&A/discussion.
