Taking Side Effects Seriously | Drug-induced Liver Injury: Diagnosis and Managment

Description: Taking side effects seriously - an interactive and evidence-based webinar series will highlight various TB treatment-associated adverse effects and provide management strategies to effectively reduce barriers to treatment completion and support both patients and clinicians. Session 2 of this two-part training on drug-induced liver injury (DILI) will discuss management of abnormal liver tests during TB treatment as well as the diagnosis of drug-induced liver injury and its management. 

Target Audience: This training is intended for physicians, nurses, and other licensed medical and public health professionals who provide care to patients in treatment for LTBI and active TB. 

Credit: This training is approved for up to 1.50 continuing education hours (see below). Certificates will be available within 8-10 weeks. 

Cost: There is no fee for this training.

Objectives:

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Describe liver test abnormalities that may occur during TB treatment.
  • Identify which liver test abnormalities may indicate DILI to improve clinical decision making around treatment regimens. 
  • Summarize 2-3 management strategies for DILI to improve patient experience and support treatment completion.

Training Format: Virtual training includes lectures and Q&A/discussion.
