Bridges to Build: TB in the Asian & Asian American Community

Credit: This training is approved for up to 1.5 CME and nursing continuing education hours (see below). Certificates will be available approximately 12 weeks after the training.

Target Audience: This training is intended for healthcare professionals, tuberculosis survivors and anyone impacted by tuberculosis.

Description: The Bridges to Build series originated on a call to action to focus on cultural and structural humility, as well as meeting patients where they are. The past two iterations have focused on TB in African American patients and TB in Binational patients. This training focuses on the Asian and Asian American (A/AA) community’s experience, access to care and the quality of care they receive. This training will focus on how the historical (and ongoing) experience of anti-Asian racism impacts A/AAs' access to care and the quality of care they receive. We will share specific strategies for clinicians and programs to consider so that TB care for A/AA patients can be improved, leading to better health outcomes.

Training Objectives:

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

• identify the specific barriers that may prevent healthcare providers and their A/AA patients from developing the trust and rapport needed for effective TB care
• discuss strategies to overcome barriers to treatment and improve the clinic or TB care experience for A/AA patients
