Target/Intended Audience
The course is designed for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and field staff who are interested in a multidisciplinary approach to tuberculosis (TB) care.

Description

This four-day intensive course will familiarize the clinician with all the aspects of tuberculosis infection, disease and clinical care using an interdisciplinary and interactive approach. The curriculum is provided through lecture and interactive case management sessions. The faculty is selected for their unique skill in encouraging interaction and building rapport with participants. The atmosphere is relaxed with an expectation that a free exchange of questions, comments and information will occur.

Objectives

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
• Understand the current guidelines for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of tuberculosis.
• Identify populations at high risk for LTBI and TB disease, and strategies to target these populations.

• Gain expert insight for the medical management of TB, including MDR-TB, pediatric TB, HIV/TB co-infection and other co-morbidities.
• Recognize the roles of the multidisciplinary healthcare professionals needed to provide improved TB care.
